Olaf Cussó receives the Research Lilly Award for PhD Students

Olaf Cussó, PhD student in our group under the supervision of Dr. Miquel Costas and Dr. Xavi Ribas, was awarded with a Research Lilly Award given by the international pharmaceutical company Lilly and the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry (RSEQ). These awards recognize the research excellence of PhD student in organic, analytical and pharmaceutical chemistry and they intend to strengthen the interaction between industry and academia.

Olaf was one of the winners of this 13th edition, together with Andrés Seoane (University of Santiago de Compostela) and Xuequiang Wang (Institut d'Investigació Química de Catalunya, Tarragona). Olaf's research is based on the design of chiral iron catalysts that promote the oxidation of C=C double bonds for the synthesis of chiral epoxides using mild conditions.

As one of the winners, Olaf will receive an economic prize of 1500€ and will be presenting a poster in the awards ceremony in the Lilly company in Madrid (September 25th). Congratulations Olaf!
