Alicia Casitas, new junior group leader in our group

Dr. Alicia Casitas has received La Caixa Junior Group Leader fellowship, which will allow her to start her independent research line in our group working on Sustainable Chemical Processes with Earth Abundant Metals.

Alicia received her PhD in our group in 2012 under the supervision of Dr. Xavi Ribas and Dr. Miquel Costas and then she was awarded with a Ramón Areces Fellowship to start her postdoctoral career at the Max-Planck Institut für Kohlenforschung (Germany) in the group of Prof. Alois Fürstner, where she worked on the synthesis and characterization of novel organometallic iron complexes that are relevant to C-H activation and cross-coupling reaction. In 2016, she returned to Catalonia with a Juan de la Cierva-Incorporación fellow at Institut Català d'Investigació Química (Prof. Julio Lloret-Fillol's group) where she worked on the development of more sustainable visible-light photocatalytic methodologies towards radical cyclization reactions employing earth-abundant bimetallic catalysts (Cu/Co/Ni). Now, she will join our group to start her independent career.
